John K. (Ken) Woodard received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Petroleum Land Management from The University of Texas in 1984 and worked for Shell Oil Company prior to attending law school. In 1994, he obtained his J.D. from The South Texas College of Law and was admitted to practice in Texas. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts of the Southern, Northern and Western Divisions of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Bar Association and the Texas Association of Defense Counsel.

Throughout his career, Mr. Woodard has practiced in general civil litigation and insurance defense for a wide variety of defense cases such as premises liability, trucking and automobile accidents, contractors liability, liquor liability (dram shop) and gas and pipeline explosions. Working for both the domestic and Lloyds of London markets, he has specialized in complex cases involving insurance policy and coverage interpretation, coverage litigation, claim handling, first party liability and bad faith. His practice has also involved extensive analysis of contractual interpretation, indemnity obligations, additional insured status, and insurance agent responsibility and liability, especially as it relates to the London market. The property damage claims have also required the pursuit of large loss subrogation claims involving refinery failures, turbine failures, warehouse and building fires and collapses, pipeline failures and agent responsibility.
